11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
New tools and technologies for genealogical discovery allow us to quickly learn factual information about our ancestors and ancestry. With the click of a mouse, we have access to vital records from around the world, and a simple DNA analysis reveals our bio-geographical origins. As many of us gather names, dates, and other genealogical facts, we yearn for more personal connections to those who came before us, in stories about their lives and first-person accounts of their daily struggles, hopes, and dreams. In this session you’ll learn how ASU’s Project for Writing and Recording Family History is inspiring folks to bring the stories of the past to life—as well as begin to record stories for future generations. We’ll engage in an invention/writing exercise to jump start your own family history contributions.
