Although most Americans speak admiringly of the Founding Fathers, they are not always aware of how these leaders of a new republic worked together and fought each other over the founding of the American republic. It was one thing to secure independence from Great Britain, but something else altogether to establish a new form of government that embodied the political principles and advanced the social philosophies of this new experiment in nationhood. This series will explore how this group of men went about erecting the republican framework for a democratic society that would defy predictions of its impending demise.
