New College of
Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences

ASU at the West campus

The New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at ASU prepares students to take their places as independent thinkers and active participants in a rapidly changing world. Its programs provide the skills necessary for effective expression and a greater understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures, both past and present.

The New College imparts to its students a sensitivity to the artistic dimensions of human expression and the natural environment, as well as provides them with a greater understanding of scientific inquiry. An integrating theme of New College is a focus on social concern and community engagement.

New College offers 20 undergraduate degrees: American studies; applied computing; applied science; English; ethnicity, race, and first-nations studies; history; integrative studies; interdisciplinary arts and performance; life sciences; political science; psychology; social and behavioral sciences; sociology; Spanish; and women’s studies.  A master’s degree program in interdisciplinary studies is also available through New College.
