ASU at the Downtown Phoenix campus
Founded in 1957, ASU’s College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation has grown to 7,000 graduates from six. Twenty-nine percent of its students are from ethnic minority backgrounds and 11 percent are male. The college is Arizona’s largest resource for nurses, offering baccalaureate and master of science nursing degrees. In 2005, it became the only Arizona college to offer a doctorate of nursing science degree.
The College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation’s brand reflects the philosophy and values of the college: We dream, discover and deliver excellence in nursing education, practice and health care solutions. The college is organized based on the faculty’s areas of expertise: Center for the Advancement of Evidence-based Practice; Center for Improving Health Outcomes in Children, Teens and Families; Center for Healthy Outcomes in Aging; and the Institute for Community Health and Wellness.
To help meet the growing demand for nurses in the region, the college hired 23 full-time faculty in 2005. As a result, the College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation increased the number of students at the West campus of ASU and expanded its program to the Polytechnic campus of ASU in addition to a joint nursing program at the Mayo Clinic.
