University College

ASU at the Tempe campus

University College offers ASU students unique opportunities to achieve their educational goals through programs in interdisciplinary studies, academic success, achievement and community engagement.

The University College works to:

  • Provide a venue for innovative programs and degrees in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies;
  • Integrate advising and academic services for students who want to explore majors and career pathways;
  • Offer a broad range of general studies and other required courses for academic programs at the Downtown Phoenix campus of ASU;
  • Enhance individualized  support universitywide for students in transition;
  • Facilitate world-class extended and continuing education programs; and
  • Improve student retention and graduation rates.

Exploration is a central feature of the University College at ASU. Through the college, students have the opportunity to explore possible majors, degree completion programs, interdisciplinary studies or become involved in the community. We give students a choice in how they want to learn: traditional lectures in classrooms on an ASU campus or at classrooms located in dozens of locations throughout the Phoenix area, online courses that let them learn when and where they want, and community-based experiential learning opportunities.

The college also delivers a variety of continuing education courses and certificate programs to major employer sites in central Arizona, as well as lectures and other activities created specially to bridge ASU with the community.
