Sun Devil Athletics

Sun Devil Athletics oversees and manages all Sun Devil athletic programs at the university and has a proud tradition of athletic excellence. More than 500 ASU student athletes compete in 22 sport programs in the Pac-12 conference, arguably one of the country's most competitive arenas. Sun Devil student athletes face strenuous academic and athletic requirements, balancing training and competition schedules while achieving outstanding results in the classroom. Thanks to the support of Sun Devil Club donors and alumni, ASU student athletes have risen to the challenge in the classroom and on the playing field.

  • ASU Athletics recently finished in 27th place out of 346 Division I teams in theLearfield Sports Directors' Cup, recognizing the overall performances of athletic departments across the nation.
  • ASU ranks 3rd all-time Pac-10 Conference and ranks 19th all-time in Division I Athletics for highest numer of Academic All-Americans. In 2010-11, five student athletes earned Academic All-American status.
  • Sun Devil student athletes performed 1,494 hours of community service, reaching more than 99,000 youth and adults in the community.

In addition to the national championship titles and conference success, ASU has also received national attention through the development of the Scholar-Baller program, becoming the first athletic department in the nation to recognize student athletes with a patch on their jersey for academic success.
