Today’s engineering educational focus differs greatly from that of ASU students in 1954 when the first engineering programs in the College of Applied Arts and Sciences were established. Today, students in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering are actively involved in project-based learning, use information technology daily in their studies, take biology courses as part of the curriculum and align their goals closely with the needs of today’s industry.
The Fulton Schools of Engineering at ASU provide students the knowledge and skills they need to achieve success in a technically oriented career. ASU has earned a position among the top 50 graduate and undergraduate engineering programs nationally by U.S. News & World Report.
The engineering schools also house nearly 20 research centers, institutes and focused programs, and participates in a number of university initiatives, including the Biodesign Institute at ASU, Decision Theater and the Flexible Display Center.
Internationally recognized faculty engage in use-inspired research in collaboration with individuals, organizations and society. The schools and its members operate in a transdisciplinary, entrepreneurial environment that produces not only a creative and highly educated workforce, but advancements in technical knowledge that drive sustainable growth and improve quality of life for all people.
