Your gift supports the International Rule of Law and Security program’s commitment to helping countries in transition to develop and strengthen their legal systems. Your gift allows the International Rule of Law and Security program to promote rule of law, establish good governance and protect citizens’ fundamental rights around the world.
The IRLS team is committed to helping countries in transition, including fragile and post-conflict states, develop and strengthen their legal systems. Your gift funds efforts that tackle the current and future challenges these countries face through programs informed by their local context. The IRLS program has undertaken work in countries as diverse as Georgia, Mexico, Albania, and Pakistan, including projects to assist developing democracies in identifying and combatting disinformation from authoritarian neighbors, enhance prosecutorial capabilities, strengthen approaches to legal education, and build capacity in justice systems.
The academic component of the IRLS program, developed and run jointly with the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, is an academic and experiential learning program designed to train students for work in international development and rule of law issues. Through the program, future lawyers gain deep working knowledge of the field and prepare for work either in the U.S. or abroad that promotes justice, good governance, human rights, and international security.
When you give to the IRLS program, you enable important work in areas of expertise including rule of law, security, legal education, and transitional justice. To learn more about the IRLS program, visit: https://www.mccaininstitute.org/international-rule-of-law-and-security/
