SFIS Study Abroad Student Support

Learn more about your impact

When you make a gift to the SFIS Study Abroad Student Support Fund, you support ASU's commitment to student access and provide travel grants to exceptional undergraduate students in the School for the Future of Innovation in Society who seek help to defray the costs of a global educational experience.

The fund was originally established to support a student enrolled in the SFIS Antarctica global experience program. Though she had worked hard to secure scholarships through jobs and fundraising efforts, she was still short $500 when it came time to purchase her plane ticket. Support from generous donors like you helped cover the gap, and she became one of the first ASU students to swim in Antarctica. Your gift provides these students the opportunity to expand their knowledge of different places, cultures and people.

Impact of Donor Support

  • More learners can pursue higher education. In 2022, 22,000 donors contributed $66.3 million for scholarships.
  • More students succeed. ASU ranks #1 among the state’s public universities for its 86% first-year retention rate thanks in part to donor-funded student success initiatives.
  • And donors helped ASU offer more than 4,500 hours of free tutoring.

We choose to invest in ASU because of its agility, speed and focus on innovation. The Swette Center engages in cross-disciplinary research and collaborates with many partners, including private sector leaders, to create food systems change.”
