ENERGIZE Psychology Program

Learn more about your impact

Founded in 2019, the ENERGIZE Initiative in Psychology has helped over 250 students who are under-represented in scientific psychology. The primary goal of the initiative is to help these students obtain laboratory experience that furthers their understanding of scientific psychology and that increases the success of their applications to postgraduate programs. We achieve this goal by providing the following:

— Mentoring to prepare the student for a laboratory interview.

— Intensive mentoring in laboratory skills.

— The opportunity to develop and conduct their own research in the laboratory or in a special course, Applied Psychological Methods.

— Professional development opportunities such as travel to conferences to present their research.

Thus, the ENERGIZE Initiative is a vital component of the Psychology Department's efforts toward diversity.

Impact of Donor Support

  • More learners can pursue higher education. In 2022, 22,000 donors contributed $66.3 million for scholarships.
  • More students succeed. ASU ranks #1 among the state’s public universities for its 86% first-year retention rate thanks in part to donor-funded student success initiatives.
  • And donors helped ASU offer more than 4,500 hours of free tutoring.

I believe ASU is a major life force in our community and I want to do my part to help it thrive."
