Geology Field Camp Scholarship

Learn more about your impact

The Geology Field Camp Scholarship Fund provides an experience for future geologists to apply what has been learned in the classroom and lab to real geological fieldwork. During field camp, students work in the field by day and live in a National Forest campground. Students work independently to make and record field observations, describe and identify rocks, and determine 3D structural relationships. This requires intense and sustained focus to always know your location while interpreting and recording complex geology. The process requires use of knowledge and skills gained throughout the student's coursework, combined with the physical and intellectual challenge of exploring complex geology in rugged landscapes.

Impact of Donor Support

  • More learners can pursue higher education. In 2022, 22,000 donors contributed $66.3 million for scholarships.
  • More students succeed. ASU ranks #1 among the state’s public universities for its 86% first-year retention rate thanks in part to donor-funded student success initiatives.
  • And donors helped ASU offer more than 4,500 hours of free tutoring.

I believe ASU is a major life force in our community and I want to do my part to help it thrive."
