Ravi DeFilippo Geology Field Camp Scholarship Endowment

Learn more about your impact

The Ravi DeFilippo Geology Field Camp Scholarship was created in 2010 in honor of Ravi DeFilippo, a 2009 graduate of the School of Earth and Space Exploration, and his love of field geology. DeFilippo died in a mining accident in August 2010.

ASU students studying geology are highly recommended to participate in a field course entitled Field II, also known as Field Camp, which provides a hands-on learning environment outside of Payson, Ariz. Finances, however, often get in the way for students who must be away from summer jobs for three weeks in order to attend. Your gift supports a deserving student and alleviates the cost of program fees and living expenses.

Impact of Donor Support

  • More learners can pursue higher education. In 2022, 22,000 donors contributed $66.3 million for scholarships.
  • More students succeed. ASU ranks #1 among the state’s public universities for its 86% first-year retention rate thanks in part to donor-funded student success initiatives.
  • And donors helped ASU offer more than 4,500 hours of free tutoring.

I believe ASU is a major life force in our community and I want to do my part to help it thrive."
