Learn more about your impact

Established to honor the legacy of the late Ray Henkel, professor of geography at ASU from 1966 to 1995, the Ray Henkel Endowment supports a scholarship awarded to the undergraduate geography major with the highest grade point average. Henkel was a favorite among students and he inspired and mentored countless students during his career to pursue geography studies and careers. Support of the Ray Henkel Endowment will continue that incredible legacy of inspiring students during their pursuit of a geography degree.

Geography became my life’s work many decades ago. Through the Ray Henkel Scholarship Endowment, younger generations can choose to do the same."

  • More students succeed. ASU ranks #1 among the state’s public universities for its 86% first-year retention rate thanks in part to donor-funded student success initiatives.
  • And donors helped ASU offer more than 4,500 hours of free tutoring.
