Learn more about your impact

Devils Adapt is a student-led, staff-supported program that has impacted the ASU community. Goals of the program include improving physical strength and mobility and shifting the athletes' mental fortitude and confidence. We accomplish this by engaging them in a 9-12-week training program, where they meet with the group three times a week. In addition to the scheduled workouts, the group gets together for events outside the gym, such as rock-climbing, bowling, escape rooms and more. At the end of the semester, the group celebrates everyone's accomplishments with a Banquet celebration. Devils Adapt values not only the physical training aspect of the program but also the sense of community that comes with it. We see that they thrive academically and physically during their time here at Devils Adapt. The program serves as a launch pad for professional development and an opportunity for students to be leaders.

Devil’s Adapt has really impacted my life, mostly in just having a routine and making physical activity part of my routine. A big reason why I joined the program was because I was in a cycle of my leg being weak because I was not active, and I could not be active because my leg was weak. My favorite part of the program is probably the community aspect; there’s no judgment at all; you don’t have to worry about if you’re doing something right, everybody is so helpful, and it’s a great sense of community. Impact of donor support

Devils Adapt is seeking funding for the program to support its increasing size and equipment needs. Doubling the size will give more opportunities for students with disabilities to participate in the program while having a personalized adaptive experience. It will also give opportunities for adaptive trainers to get experience in their future careers, such as the healthcare field, including physical therapy, biomedical science, personal training and physician assistants. With additional funding, we also seek a Myolyn Cycle to assist wheelchair users with their leg movement. The Myolyn Cycle will empower wheelchair users to achieve exercise movements for people with spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, stroke and cerebral palsy.
