This fund helps researchers create new knowledge about the diversity of life; make it open and freely available to the public; and use it to improve human health, food, and environmental stewardship. Your gift helps us develop digital tools to share and analyze biodiversity data and foster in-person and virtual learning experiences for academic and general audiences.
Our center synthesizes information generated across multiple continents and centuries in order to understand the origins of biological diversity and what will happen to it on a changing planet. We support students and faculty who do collections-based research that uses physical and digital specimens of all varieties, including insects, plants, mammals, birds, mollusks, lichen and more. Our scientists are also international leaders in working with partners outside academia to develop more effective institutions for stewarding biological species and information."
