Learn more about your impact

Marcus White played an important role at ASU as a faculty member in the dance program, a cross-Herberger Institute collaborator, a dedicated mentor and a deeply engaged and committed community artist-scholar-activist. He held an appointment as assistant professor in dance in the School of Film, Dance and Theatre (now the School of Music, Dance and Theatre), where he served as faculty lead for Urban Sol and Come AZ You Are, and he was a program advisor for Projecting All Voices. As an artist and scholar, he dedicated his career to working in the long legacy of the Black Radical Tradition and speaking truth to power.

Your gift to the Marcus White Dance Studio Fund supports the needs of the program, including but not limited to lecture series, facilities maintenance and upgrades, scholarships, student travel and educational experiences.

Impact of Donor Support

  • More learners can pursue higher education. In 2022, 22,000 donors contributed $66.3 million for scholarships.
  • More students succeed. ASU ranks #1 among the state’s public universities for its 86% first-year retention rate thanks in part to donor-funded student success initiatives.
  • And donors helped ASU offer more than 4,500 hours of free tutoring.

I believe ASU is a major life force in our community and I want to do my part to help it thrive."
