Learn more about your impact

Professor Jose Náñez was an integral member of psychology faculty within the School of Social & Behavioral Sciences at New College, West campus, for over 30 years. His legacy is undeniable in the number of undergraduate and graduate students he taught and mentored. Perhaps most important was his work with the Hispanic student community. He worked tirelessly to reach out to students from diverse populations to ensure student success. ASU’s recent Hispanic Serving Institution designation is due in no small part to Jose’s efforts over the past several decades.

In addition, Professor Náñez was the instrumental force behind honoring César E. Chávez in 1992 with an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Humane Letters, Honors Causa, from ASU for his efforts in community building and improving the working conditions of migrant farmworkers.

The Jose Náñez Memorial Scholarship supports the students Jose dedicated his career to helping. At West campus, nearly 50% of students are from underrepresented groups. This annual scholarship will have long-lasting impact on our students' lives, their families and future successes.

Impact of Donor Support

More learners can pursue higher education. In 2022, 22,000 donors contributed $66.3 million for scholarships.

Our family believes in giving back and sharing the blessings we have received financially and through our time."
