Learn more about your impact

John McCain was a man of unwavering conviction who left an indelible mark on American history. The John S. McCain III Library will ensure his legacy lives on, shaping our public life and challenging us to cherish integrity and service with courage and conviction. Out of the painted beauty of the Arizona desert, the library will rise as a new home worthy of his extraordinary legacy. It will be built near historic Papago Park, across the banks of Tempe Town Lake from the Arizona State University Tempe campus. More than a facility, it will be a living institution charged with cultivating the next generation of leaders prepared to tackle the great issues of our time.

Plans to include a community center reflect McCain’s profound and enduring commitment to community service. The McCain library will be as multifaceted as the man himself, a multipurpose complex including so much more than papers and books. In addition to archives of his materials from decades of high-profile work in Arizona, Washington, D.C. and around the globe, we anticipate that facilities will include a convening center, program and office space, a museum, and more.

John McCain is an important symbol of American democracy, and he holds a special place of respect and appreciation in Arizona. ASU intends to work with others in the community to take this unique property and create something that honors his extraordinary life and legacy and that serves the principles he devoted his life and career to and carries it forward for future generations to learn from
