How do we ensure that public investments in science and technology lead to better outcomes for our country and the planet?
The Washington, DC-based Consortium for Science, Policy & Outcomes develops and disseminates tools and strategies to address this challenge.
Improving the outcomes of investments in science and technology by the federal government, foundations and private sector involves more than analysis — it requires practical tools, informed community engagement and sustained collaboration. CSPO combines policy-relevant research with the development of applied methods that help decision-makers design, implement and evaluate science and technology programs. We work directly with federal agencies and other policy actors, translating evidence and historical insight into strategies that strengthen program performance and expand the public value of national investments in scientific research and early-stage technologies.
CSPO also serves as a trusted platform for learning and exchange. We convene federal agency leaders and policy implementers, legislative staff, researchers and industry and nonprofit partners to address governance challenges interlinked with advances in science and technology. We share insights through public programs and publications and prepare current and future science policy leaders through courses, fellowships and professional training. As a Washington, DC-based, university-anchored center, we bridge scholarship and practice to help ensure that scientific progress delivers meaningful societal outcomes for our country and the planet.
