Learn more about your impact

This fund was established to honor the life and impact of Dr. Marfa Lee Holland, Class of 1966. Dr. Holland was a lifelong passionate educator who touched many lives through her decades of service. Much of her career was spent at Arcadia High School in Phoenix, where she had a positive impact on generations of students. This endowment will help transform the lives of Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation students and infuse Dr. Holland's passion for education in perpetuity.

You are giving to students who may have otherwise been limited by financial obstacles the opportunity to fulfill their own ambitions and earn their degrees. Beyond that, your support will be felt for generations as our graduates become effective educators who will improve the lives of individuals and strengthen communities.

Impact of donor support

  • More learners can pursue higher education. Thanks to our donors, more than 7,000 ASU students have received upwards of $32 million in scholarships with more than $39 million raised.
  • More students succeed. ASU ranks #1 among the state’s public universities for its 86% first-year retention rate thanks in part to donor-funded student success initiatives.
  • Important initiatives continue. More than $320 million in new gifts and commitments support ongoing initiatives at ASU.
  • The spirit of generosity abounds. In the past year, more than 100,000 individual, corporate and foundation donors stepped forward to help the ASU community.

One of my favorite experiences is a student who reaches out to tell me that I made a difference; that the education and life experience they received from me had a profound impact on the direction of their life. Education students should be endlessly curious and strive to find what each student needs to thrive - that's where the magic happens and when you can have an enduring impact. Education is not about test scores, it's about connection.
