The integrity of journalism and journalists is being questioned today in the United States from leaders at the highest levels of government and business. Having Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication with its superior reputation and history of high teaching standards to train our nation's future reporters and communicators is arguably more important today than ever before in modern history. Motivating and financially supporting young adults from minority populations, such as Native American and Hispanic, to pursue careers in journalism is also vital to provided culturally sensitive and relevant news coverage in the future.
This scholarship will allow me to focus more on building my content and career, and less about having to stress about how I will pay for these classes."
With the proliferation of misinformation and certain high-profile political leaders focsed on discrediting the media, there is an urgent need to support education and training for future professional journalists.
