Gifts to the Christopher D. Spinella Leadership Scholarship Endowment support students who demonstrate a strong commitment to developing leadership throughout the community through the Leadership Scholarship Program.
Chris was an engaged and passionate Sun Devil, both as a student and as an alumnus. As a student, he was involved in numerous organizations, including Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, ASASU student government (where he served as vice president), the Student Alumni Association and the Student Foundation. He was also part of Homecoming royalty, recognized as ASU Man of the Year and an active participant in the Leadership Scholarship Program.
As an alumnus, Chris continued his dedication to ASU as a member of the ASU Alumni Association Board of Directors and the National Alumni Council, where he served on the audit, finance and Medallion Scholarship committees, as well as the Sun Devil Advocacy Network. He was also a founding member and past president of the Leadership Scholarship Program Alumni Chapter.
Chris earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business management and received the W. P. Carey School of Business Achievement Award. He was also honored to serve as the undergraduate convocation speaker for the W. P. Carey School of Business in May 2012.
Impact of donor support
- More learners can pursue higher education. Thanks to our donors, more than 7,000 ASU students have received upwards of $32 million in scholarships with more than $39 million raised.
- More students succeed. ASU ranks #1 among the state’s public universities for its 86% first-year retention rate thanks in part to donor-funded student success initiatives.
- Important initiatives continue. More than $320 million in new gifts and commitments support ongoing initiatives at ASU.
- The spirit of generosity abounds. In the past year, more than 100,000 individual, corporate and foundation donors stepped forward to help the ASU community.
