Learn more about your impact

You have the opportunity to support world-renowned research at the Institute of Human Origins. Your gifts allow our student scientists to conduct innovative research in paleoanthropology, genetics, primates and cultural evolution. Our scientists are connecting the human past to the global future and working to answer important questions about human existence.

From Africa to the Philippines, our researchers continue to make discoveries that are changing the world. Your investment helps us conduct work in 20 state-of-the-art laboratories and exploration at multiple field sites.

I am grateful to all of you who have supported IHO's research, student training and public outreach. I hope you will continue to endorse our mission to connect the deep past to our shared global future on this precious, but fragile planet.

Impact of donor support

World-renowned paleontological field sites led by IHO scientists have yielded critical findings in the study of human origins. The IHO is one of the best examples of public-private partnerships at ASU. It promotes science education through partnerships including a voluntary board of directors, and with local and national institutions such as museums and academic institutions with public facing programs.

IHO communicates the science of human evolution through in-house exhibits and permanent educational galleries. One example is a life-size reconstruction of the 3.2-million-year-old partial skeleton of an early human ancestor named Lucy displayed on its premises for the public and K-12 to view and learn about early human ancestors.

The IHO also contributes to medical science by studying the evolution of diseases and human biology through modern and ancient DNA, IHO contributes valuable insights into the fields of medicine and public health.
