SHESC Summer Scholars Program Fund

Learn more about your impact

Your gift to the SHESC Summer Scholars Program Fund provides critical support for underrepresented students in the ASU School of Human Evolution and Social Change through stipends, training, and mentorship and research opportunities. You advance opportunity and alleviate financial stress for these students, who often face barriers when pursuing research careers in the social sciences.

Studies have consistently shown that participation in co-curricular activities, as well as financial and infrastructural support, improve enrollment, persistence and completion for marginalized students. To this end, the SHESC Summer Scholars program provides students from historically underrepresented backgrounds a hands-on introduction to social science research, exposes them to SHESC-related careers, and a chance to develop mentoring relationships with staff, faculty and graduate students at no cost to them. Moreover, it strives to minimize potential obstacles by providing stipends so that undergraduate students may forgo a summer job and covers transportation and food for local high school students."

Impact of Donor Support

Donor support ensures that local high school students are able to participate in an enriching program without being hindered by cost of transportation, educational materials or daily lunches on campus.

I believe ASU is a major life force in our community and I want to do my part to help it thrive."
