Learn more about your impact
Rudy Lavik came to ASU (then Arizona State Teacher's College at Tempe) in 1933 to coach football, basketball and track, and to serve as the athletic director and the head of the department of physical education. He was a coach and mentor to many in the ASU and Arizona sporting communities. He was a constant advocate for the physiological benefits of exercise, amateurism in college athletics and intellectual philosophy. Charlotte Lavik was his devoted wife of 57 years. She served two different terms as the president of the Faculty Wives Club at ASU, held positions with the Tempe Women's Club and was an active member of the Tempe Republican Women's Club and the Mesa Lutheran Hospital Auxiliary.
Your gifts honor Rudy and Charlotte Lavik’s legacy by supporting the next generation of physical education teachers.

- More students succeed. ASU ranks #1 among the state’s public universities for its 86% first-year retention rate thanks in part to donor-funded student success initiatives.
- And donors helped ASU offer more than 4,500 hours of free tutoring.
