Indian Muslim Studies

Learn more about your impact

Indian Muslim Studies is an underdeveloped and underrepresented field in American academia. As the largest Muslim minority population in the world, with a rich and diverse history dating back to the beginning of Islam, Indian Muslim Studies contributes significantly to scholarship across multiple disciplines and plays an important role in increasing understanding of India today and the role of minorities in democracy. The Endowed Chair in Indian Muslim Studies will further the mission of the Center of Muslim Experience by documenting the contributions of Muslims to India and the United States. The chair will also deepen knowledge about Indian Muslims in a global context, nurture Indian Muslim students' belonging through new courses and networking and create greater visibility of the Indian Muslim American community as dynamic contributors to academia.

Impact of Donor Support

Because of you:

  • More learners can pursue higher education. In 2022, 22,000 donors contributed $66.3 million for scholarships.
  • More students succeed. ASU ranks #1 among the state's public universities for its 86% first-year retention rate thanks in part to donor-funded student success initiatives.
  • And donors helped ASU offer more than 4,500 hours of free tutoring.

Our family believes in giving back and sharing the blessings we have received financially and through our time."
